Peyton Marion
Hailing from the North Carolina Foothills, creator Peyton Marion enjoys a multi-faceted career as a writer, performer, and educator. Peyton was raised in a musical family and is one of three siblings, all of whom have music degrees and fruitful careers in the arts. Peyton holds a degree in Voice from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. While obtaining her degree, she performed frequently with the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute, the Magnolia Baroque Ensemble, the UNCSA Cantata Singers, and the Winston-Salem Symphony. In addition to her work as a classical musician, Peyton is also well-versed in musical theater, country, bluegrass, and sacred music. A passionate arts education advocate, Peyton has worked in schools across the country, sharing her love of music with students from preschool to high school. In 2019, she relocated to New York City after receiving a Kenan Fellowship to continue honing her skills as a performer and teaching artist at Lincoln Center. She made her Lincoln Center debut in December 2019 in the world premiere of The Project: An Opera, a contemporary chamber opera for which she also wrote the libretto. Peyton is currently a graduate student New York Universityβs Musical Theater Writing Program.
